Panda is a leash fastening system that provides a high degree of safety in preventing a mobile phone or other handheld wireless device from being damaged or lost if accidentally dropped while in use or carried.
A Panda "LeashLock™" is a quick-release locking mechanism that is fastened to the
phone/device with an industrial 3M adhesive pad. A fastening pin at the end of the leash is inserted into
the LeashLock for leash attachment. The LeashLock safely secures the leash to your phone, releasing it
instantly with the push of a button.
The Panda 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive is non-hardening, and removes cleanly from the phone’s surface by hand.
This allows the LeashLock to be removed and refastened when changing to a new phone or device.
The Panda Leash is professional designed and engineered as a safety product, and is manufactured for up-most reliability, and long-term use. You should expect it to remain functional for upwards to a year or more, depending on differences in handling and use.
Panda products are warranted for a period of 90-days from the date of purchase. We will replace any Panda product within the warranty period that breaks, becomes permanently deformed so as to alter proper function, or exhibits signs of failure. To receive a replacement, submit a Warranty Claim.
The LeashLock´s footprint (attachment size) is ½ inch wide x ¾ inch long, and fits most cellular phones and handheld digital devices.
Some phones have battery doors made of a very thin piece of plastic designed only to cover the battery. They are usually attached to the phone by sliding them into place and do not have a spring-loaded catch to lock them in place. Attaching a LeashLock to the battery cover on such phones can result in the back detaching from the phone unexpectedly when the phone is dropped. For such phones, battery door replacement tabs can be made from the extra adhesive pads provided. These can be cut-to-size with scissors, and placed along the seams on either side and on the ends of the battery door to keep it from dislodging and becoming detached.
Some phones have features that interfere with the fastening location you prefer for the LeashLock. In these cases, a different fastening location will be necessary. Choose an alternative location that provides you with the same leash functionality.
Just twist the LeashLock right or left to the 10:00 or 2:00 o’clock position and it can be lifted off. Small pliers are easier for twisting than finger strength. The adhesive is non-hardening and removes cleanly from the fastening surface without solvents. The adhesive is not re-useable. Extra adhesive pads are provided for refastening.
The 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive pads used for the Panda system is an acrylic foam tape with specific bonding characteristics and longevity that allow the LeashLock to stay attached to your phone in a variety of conditions over a long period of time. This is not a retail adhesive. We make it available for purchase on our website for a very reasonable price.
Two possibilities. First, the adhesive is non-hardening, and does not set up or crystallize to the surface
it is applied to. This allows it to be removed cleanly by hand at any time in the future without damage to the phone’s surface.
It provides a high strength bond to most rigid plastics, metals, and glass (up to 100lb. per sq.inch), but bonds poorly to porous,
soft pliable material such as vinyl, rubber, leather, etc.
Second, if a new adhesive pad does not bond or stay fastened, it is usually because the fastening surface on the phone was not
prepared properly before application. When prepared as instructed, the adhesive pad on the LeashLock should form a near-permanent
bond with the surface it is attached to. See LeashLock Fastening & Removal.
Panda is available for sale on our website. There are also a number of retail stores, kiosks, magazine publishers, and cell phone dealers and distributors who carry and sell the Panda line. Contact us at our website for source nearest you.
Orders generally go out the following business day the order is received. Packages usually arrive within 5 business days but can take longer depending on the destination.
It is important the location where you attach the LeashLock is clean & dry. Use the alcohol pad provided.
Select a smooth flat location on the back of the phone/device close to the bottom edge with the slot opening on the LeashLock facing
downward. Remove the protective paper from the adhesive pad, and lightly position the LeashLock in place on the phone. When ready,
press the LeashLock down firmly for 15 seconds to initiate the bond. Allow the adhesive to bond to the surface for 30 minutes before use.
Two additional adhesive pads are included in your kit should you change phones or devices. The LeashLock is removed by twisting it off
by hand or with pliers (use a cloth to avoid scratches). The adhesive is non-hardening, and will peel off cleanly. Apply a new adhesive
pad to the bottom of the LeashLock and attach it as described above.
